Everything Plate does.

Getting recipes in

  • A link, a photo, a PDF, or plain text, in Plate or shared from another app
  • Sites behind a sign-in, once you sign in through Plate
  • A whole library from Paprika, Recipe Keeper, or Crouton, in one file
  • Or write your own from scratch
  • Refresh from the source later, reviewing each change before it lands

Organizing your library

  • Collections you define, and a recipe can sit in several
  • Categories that arrive with the recipes you import
  • Favorites, pins, and ratings
  • Search names, ingredients, notes, and sources, filtered by category or collection

Meal Plan

  • Any day, any meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack
  • Notes instead of recipes, for the nights you eat out
  • Week and month views of what is coming
  • Send a whole day's recipes to the shopping list

Shopping List

  • Pick just the ingredients you need from any recipe
  • Quantities merge across recipes, and each item says which ones wanted it
  • Add your own items, with recent ones a tap away
  • Lives in Apple Reminders: share it with the household, tick off in either app

A few common questions.

Is Plate free?
Plate is free to download, with every feature included. The free version holds 15 recipes and scans 3 a week from a photo, a PDF, or free-form text. Plate Pro is a single purchase that removes all limits. Family Sharing is enabled, so you only need to buy it once for your household. If you bought Plate before it went free, you have been automatically upgraded to Plate Pro.
What happens when I reach 15 recipes?
Plate stops taking new recipes and offers you Plate Pro. Nothing you already saved is touched: every recipe stays readable, editable, and syncing.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone first, with a private backup in your own iCloud account. We cannot read it. The only thing that ever reaches us is a quality report, which is something you can choose to send if an import doesn't work as expected. The shopping list also writes to Apple Reminders so the rest of the household can see it, if you use a shared Reminders list.
Does Plate work offline?
Yes. Everything is stored locally and the iCloud backup catches up in the background. Web import only needs the Internet to read the source page; everything else works when you have no network access.
Can I disable syncing?
Yes. Settings ▸ iCloud lets you turn it off.
Can I import from another recipe app?
Yes. Plate supports importing from Paprika, Recipe Keeper and Crouton. Whatever you brought in, you can export back out in the same format.
What about iPad and Mac?
Plate is iPhone-only today. iPad and Mac versions are in the works, and will ship when they feel right, not before.
